Fifth Bone - Tshirt

Remember how I said I was doing T-shirt art for Zen-graphics? I have the art now up on my Deviantart. along with a journal entry loosely explaining the inspiration of the art.

The shirt is still being formed; Mike, the owner of Zen-Graphics, still needs to scan in the art and format the shirt.

As for mural project, my boss, Temo has his first mural commission. Chris and I will be assisting him.

Fish Bone #4 - Back

So back. I had a moral downspiral the last week or so but back in the rut of the things. Cellphone got stolen. I was trying to help them, handed them the phone, and they drove off. Stupid moment. And other personal stress.

I'm going to have another meeting with Mike on Thursday and need to post some more artwork on Saturday night at my DA account. We had a bit of an email mishap.

Things at the mural project are going well, I got started on a figure, still need to finish it and also do a mailman. Plus I've been helping with the touchups on the painting. During the priming process of the panel sides, some of the paint will get splattered with primer.

There was also gender confusion about me last week, I identify as transgendered and there was a bit of a mess of me trying to clarify my biological sex, I'll post more details on that later. But it's over now and I consider the whole situation hilarious.

Third Bone - Zen Graphics

So landed a gig with zen-grahics.com I got the gig through a friend of mine. Her brother-in-law/uncle is the owner of the company and was looking for artists to do T-shirt designs. I introduced myself when my sister and I brought her home after Fanime and then he gave me his card and I called him on Friday.

So now I have to meet up with Mike, the owner, and look over the contract while checking out their production process of the T-shirts. They do both digital printing and screen-printing.

The mural project is also going well. For now I'm just priming the edges of the wood panels that make up the mural in order to protect the wood from moisture. Next week, the boss man, Temo, is going to start me on color work and figure drawing. My co-volunteer, Chris, is pretty cool.

For my senior project, I'm going to do a tattoo artist apprenticeship. I was going to do a firedancing, but with the apprenticeship, I can earn money afterwards.

Second Bone - So back. English Art Show and Buisness Cards.

So, I'm back from Fanime. And it was quite amazing. I didn't hand out any business cards due to forgetting it back in the hotel room and being surrounded by so many superior artists that I ended up getting nervous. BUT I did get several emails and myspace profiles, so I have to contact those soon.

I managed to get another commission from my friend Tektani who now lives in Turlock and sent in some travel journal pages to Matador Travel since they had a submission call. They're a online travel magazine and if my pages get published, I'll end up getting paid around twenty five dollars or more. A link will be provided if it gets in.

Last Thursday, my English class had a small art show at the end of the day with the pieces based off literature we had read that year. What I did is shown below. Based off Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Materials include cardboard, leaves, tape, framed by sticks, and watercolor. People loved it due to the fact that it was creative and liked how I used natural materials in my art.

It went by alright. I had a few classmates take some cards and gave one to my English teacher and I had handed out cards that morning as well to some friends. A photographer also came by taking pictures of us students and noticed me working on it. I managed to provide my email to him and gave him a card. But I ended up going silent when the seniors came in to the art show due to nervousness. I'm still getting the hang of promoting myself.

The design of my business card. They're still a bit rough since it took two hours to make the originals and format everything the right way. It was horrible and time-consuming. It's still not perfect. On the night before thursday, I had to handwrite my contact info, dude to lack of time. Fanime cards had the contact info typed up on the back.

All in all, I'm still getting the hang of doing commissions and promoting myself, and think I'm doing ok as of right now.

Tomorrow I also have a meet and greet with my internship at a local mural project in my hometown. I'll log in how that went tomorrow night.

First Bone - Business Cards and the Site

I'm unhappy with the site. This template is better then Minima Dark since the header would end up stuffed with info-dumped words.

Still working on it and I have a commission to finish after Fanime.

The site's still on construction since I have been swamped with school work and the idea to hand out buisness cards came three days before the convention.

So everything's still rough. Not happy with it and I have an art show in english class to go to now which is starting in ten minutes.
